According to the religious tradition, Saint Luke himself practiced asceticism and sanctification in the Monastery of the Archangel Michael. For the inhabitants of Thassos, the Monastery of Archangel Michael is the pilgrimage of their island and Archangel Michael is considered their patron saint. It celebrates on November 8, the feast of the Archangel and the Tuesday of Diakainisimos
